Site Transfer

This guide explains how to transfer your site from your old webhosting provider
to CTD Hosting for cPanel and non-cPanel servers

The non-cPanel guide is just a general "how-to".
Due to the wide variety of other control panels yours may differ

If you would prefer to have us transfer your site for you, free of charge.
Please submit a support ticket labeled "Site Transfer".
We will need your current control panel login's URL, username and password to transfer your files to us

PLEASE NOTE:
Some hosting providers do not offer any kind of backup method in an attempt to keep you from transferring your site.
In some cases site transfer may not be possible.
This mainly affects free hosting accounts and non-Cpanel hosting providers
but is something to be aware of for any hosting account

cPanel Servers with backup enabled:

Login to your old hosting provider's cPanel

Navigate to backups

Under Partial Backups:
-download a Home Directory Backup
-download any/all MySQL databases if needed/used
-download any/all Email Forwarders if needed/used
-download any/all Email Filters if needed/used

Wait for all downloads finish

Login to your cPanel account with us

Navigate to backups

Under Partial Backups:
-upload your Home Directory backup (this may take awhile depending on the size of your site and your connection speed)
-upload any/all MySQL databses if needed/used
-upload any/all Email Forwarders if needed/used
-upload any/all Email Filters if needed/used

After DNS propagation your site should appear on our webserver

To verify your website works, view your site from this temporary URL:
https://webserv1.ctdhosting.com/~cpanel_username/
replacing "cpanel_username" with your cPanel username making sure to leave the "~"

PLEASE NOTE:
-Websites coded with external links will need to be fully propagated for all pages to show
-If you used a different cPanel username to signup with us.  Some links may not work and will need updated

Non-cPanel Servers or cPanel Servers with backup disabled:

Login to your old hosting provider's control panel

The files we need:
-copy of your home/root/public_html directory
-SQL backup of any/all MySQL databases associated with your site
-SQL backup of any/all Email Forwarders if needed/used
-SQL backup of any/all Email Filters if needed/used

There's various methods to obtain a home directory backup.

Download your home directory with FTP if it's offered,
download through any available file managers offered
or lastly download each page separately (obviously not the preferred method).
Methods may vary depending on what options are available to you through your old hosting provider.
Please keep in mind that some hosting providers do block all options to download these files

To obtain a SQL database backup, open up the phpmyadmin (if available).
Click the associated database in the list on the left that you want to download.
Click the Export tab at the top, quick export method, click go and save the file to your computer.
Repeat if necessary for any other SQL databases your site uses.

After you have the files we need

Login to your cPanel account with us

Navigate to phpmyadmin

Click the Import tab

Browse your computer to where the SQL files were downloaded and upload

Repeat for any additional databases

Upload your copy of your home/root/public_html directory with
either FTP or through cPanel's file manager to the public_html folder

After DNS propagation your site should appear on our webserver

To verify your website works, view your site from this temporary URL:
https://webserv3.ctdhosting.com/~cpanel_username/
replacing "cpanel_username" with your cPanel username making sure to leave the "~"

PLEASE NOTE:
-Websites coded with external links will need to be fully propagated for all pages to show
-If you used a different cPanel username to signup with us.  Some links may not work and will need updated
